What is Neurofeedback?
We know the human brain is built for learning and adapting to new environments.  For example, if I practice the piano, my ability to hit the right keys in their proper order increases over time as I hear myself strike the right notes.

Neurofeedback is a learning tool for the brain to learn to produce the right brain waves.  Brain waves are the electrical impulses that the brain produces when neurons fire together.  These electrical impulses can be read from the surface of the scalp with electrodes, then reflected back to the learner in the form of auditory and visual feedback.
In a continuous loop, the trainee learns to produce the right brain activity by being rewarded for doing so.  The brain wants to learn to control its own environment and master new skills.  Neurofeedback is an effective way for the brain to learn how to regulate its own brain activity.

Dr. John McManus has been offering neurofeedback to hundreds of clients and families in the Lake Oswego/ Portland Metro Area for over 20 years, successfully helping many overcome symptoms of their conditions including Anxiety, Depression, PTSD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit Disorder, just to name the main concerns.

Neurofeedback is a safe and well tolerated treatment that has been recognized by the American Academy of Pediatrics as effective.
